Abstract

This paper presents the results of a review of the monograph by Yu. P. Garmaev and I. M. Polyakov, "Defense Versions in Criminal Cases of Bribery" (Moscow: Yurlitinform, 2026, 200 pages). The monograph contains a detailed analysis of the procedure for developing and testing defense versions in criminal bribery cases. The authors propose a classification and a complete list of defense versions in bribery cases on various grounds. Based on the circumstances subject to proof in a criminal bribery case, an informational basis for developing and testing defense versions in cases of this category is formulated. Investigative situations related to defense theories at the initial and subsequent stages of the investigation and defense strategies are described. A tactical operation for developing and testing defense theories in bribery cases is considered.
