Abstract
This work is an analysis of a serious comprehensive study by Dr. of Law, Professor S.V. Bazhanov — "State and Legal Policy in the Field of Combating Crime and Its Impact on the Cost of the Criminal Process" (Moscow: Yurlitinform, 2025. 216 p.). The monograph, based on a thorough comparative analysis of the most important provisions of the RSFSR Criminal Procedure Code and the Russian Criminal Procedure Code in the context of the study, demonstrates the continuity of investigative and judicial procedures that have a significant impact on the cost of the entire criminal proceedings. In his research, the author relies on the results of sociological studies, the latest changes in federal legislation, and the positions of Russian scientists. At the same time, the work critically assesses the positions of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, points out the lack of sustainable economic growth and strategic opportunities for Russian society, and negatively evaluates the fact that criminal justice bodies are part of a system of institutions that operate under the regime of budgetary financing. The monograph contains proposals of a debatable nature that require further scientific analysis. However, the author's work is a significant contribution to the transformation of criminal proceedings and their construction in accordance with current realities and challenges.
