Статья посвящена анализу мотивации студентов неязыкового высшего учебного заведения (на примере обучающихся первого и второго курсов ФГБОУ ВО «СГУС») к изучению иностранного языка. Выделяется и рассматривается как важнейший компонент изучения иностранного языка пополнение словарного запаса студентов в контексте их будущей профессии, рассматриваются традиционные способы контроля освоения профессионально значимой иноязычной лексики, также сравнительно более инновационный электронный контроль в форме онлайн тестов. Анализируется успеваемость обучающихся и их субъективное отношение к изучению иностранного языка, оценке собственных знаний и инновационным методам контроля. Работа является частью исследования познавательной мотивации студентов неязыкового вуза и влияния на нее оценочных средств, и ее итогом стало решение использовать электронный контроль знаний наряду с традиционными методами контроля при преподавании иностранного языка в Смоленском государственном университете спорта.

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the motivation of students of a non-linguistic higher educational institution (using the example of first— and second-year students of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution «Smolensk State University of Sports») to learn a foreign language. Replenishment of students’ vocabulary in the context of their future profession is highlighted and considered as the most important component of learning a foreign language, traditional methods of monitoring the development of professionally significant foreign language vocabulary are considered, as well as comparatively more innovative electronic control in the form of online tests. The article analyzes students’ academic performance and their subjective attitude to learning a foreign language, assessing their own knowledge and innovative control methods. The work is part of a study of the cognitive motivation of students at a non-linguistic university and the impact of assessment tools on it, and its result was the decision to use electronic knowledge control along with traditional methods of control when teaching a foreign language at Smolensk State University of Sports.
